The ninth season of the Pakistan Super League is called the 2024 season (for sponsorship purposes, it is known as HBL PSL 9). Six clubs compete in a double round robin and page playoff format in this franchise Twenty20 cricket league, which was founded by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015. From February 17 to March 18, 2024, four cities in Pakistan will host the season. The Multan Sultans were defeated by Lahore Qalandars in the previous edition's final, making them the reigning champions.
Context
Due to the 2024 Pakistani general election, the Pakistan Cricket Board intended to relocate the event to the United Arab Emirates; however, the franchise owners were against this proposal. Two additional clubs were supposed to be added to the league, but the franchise owners turned down this idea.
Squads
Six days after the teams announced which players they would be keeping, on December 13, 2023, the squads were completed with the draft in Lahore. On January 29, 2024, a replacement and supplemental draft was created.
Venues
The locations and schedule were revealed by the PCB on January 12, 2024.The four cities of Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi will host the event. There were plans to stage games at Peshawar's Arbab Niaz Stadium, but these fell through because of security concerns.
